Harris Science Research Institute

Kyotanabe Rikagakukan continuing the tradition of Harris Science Hall

Harris Science Hall on the Imadegawa Campus was established in 1890 with a contribution from American businessman J. N. Harris who sympathized with Doshisha founder Joseph H. Neesima’s commitment to science. The stone plaque on the side of the building is inscribed with the word “(18) SCIENCE (89).” Harris Science Research Institute, currently located in the Rikagakukan Building on the Kyotanabe Campus, continues to pursue innovative research based on this tradition.
